Short ribs (not too fat) 1-1/2 to 2 pounds 1 marrow bone (may be removed later) 2 Tablespoons whole barley 2 Tablespoons split peas 2 Tablespoons baby limas 1 whole onion 3 carrots 2 or 3 stalks of celery 10 green beans 1 turnip or parsnip 1 small sweet potato 1 small white potato 1/2 cabbage (small pieces) 1 can of tomatoes 2 heaping Tablespoons Alphabet Macaroni white pepper to taste
Add water and salt to ribs and marrow bone and boil. Scrape off scum. Add whole barley, split peas, baby limas, and onion. Boil 1 hour. Remove onion. Cut up and add vegetables. Boil until vegetables are tender. In the last 3 minutes, add macaroni and white pepper.
