4 med. potatoes, peeled and cubed 2 med. tart apples, peeled and quartered 1/2 tsp. salt 4 bacon strips, diced 1 sm. onion, quartered, thinly sliced 1/4 c. butter 1 tsp. cider vinegar 1/2 tsp. sugar dash of nutmeg
Boil potatoes, apples and salt, covered, for 12 minutes. Cook bacon, saving 1 tsp. drippings. Saute onion in drippings. Drain potatoes and apples. Add the butter, vinegar and sugar; mash until smooth. Top with onion, bacon and nutmeg.
