1 large clove minced garlic 1 chopped shallot 3 Tablespoons melted butter 1-1/4 cups milk 1-1/2 cups whipping cream 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 2-1/2 pounds red potatoes, cut into 1/8 inch slices 4 ounces Gruyere cheese 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
TO PREPARE:
Saute first 3 ingredients for 2 minutes. Add next 4 ingredients. Mix together. Add potatoes and bring to a boil over medium heat. Transfer to 9 x 12 inch Pyrex casserole dish. Add Gruyere cheese and top with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Let stand 20-30 minutes before serving.
