Never-Fail Pastry



NEVER-FAIL PASTRY




3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups solid Crisco shortening
1 egg
2 tablespoons white vinegar
4 tablespoons cold water





  1. Mix the flour, sugar, salt and Crisco together with a fork or pastry blender until it looks like coarse meal.

  2. Beat the egg, vinegar and water together in a small bowl until mixed well. Add to flour and shortening mixture and stir together with a fork just until it sticks together.

  3. Form into two balls.

  4. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 15 minutes.

  5. Roll out or freeze for later use.


 



Yield: Two 9-inch pastry shells.
