1 (9-ounce) package yellow cake mix 1 cup yellow cornmeal 1 cup flour 4 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup milk 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted 1 egg, beaten
TO PREPARE:
Prepare the cake batter using package directions, being careful to beat air into the mixture. Combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl and mix well. Stir in the milk, butter and egg. Fold the cornmeal mixture into the cake batter. Spoon the batter into 2 greased 8-inch round baking pans or a 9x13-inch baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is light brown.
