What's New? That's what I'm asking you! It seems that nobody is cooking lately, maybe it's just too darned hot! Hopefully, we'll all feel like getting back into the kitchen when things cool down. I don't know about you all, but I'm ready for fall!
I love autumn, with it's crisp, cool air...the changing leaves (which are spectacular here in North Western Missouri!) I love the pumpkin patches with their mounds of would be jack-o-lanterns, bales of hay and corn mazes for the kids to play in.
Apple season will be coming up next month...so I sure hope that you have some apple recipes to share with everyone. We go to a wonderful apple orchard in Waverly, MO every Sept...and bring home bushels of Johnatan and MacIntosh apples for pies and cinnamon applesauce. I can't wait to make some pies for the freezer this year! They are so good on a cold winter night!
One of my favorite things to do in the fall, is to make a big pot of soup and a crusty loaf of fresh baked bread. I hope everyone has a soup recipe to share because in a few weeks, we'll all be craving a warming, hearty bowl!
Right now though, in the dog days of summer, I'm using my crockpot more and my oven less. Often, we'll just have salad and melon for dinner. Sandwiches are good too though, always a strategy to beat the heat.
Some of the recipes folks have posted recently sound pretty great!
So...there are some great recipes to try. I hope you dig in and if you make them, please be sure to let us know how you liked them, either in the recipe thread or in the review section.
The wheels on the bus are getting ready to go round and round in Kansas City...so summer's coming to an end. Have a great rest of the summer...Blessings.
You're very welcome! I'd like to get back to cooking too. I did cook alot this weekend...because it was cool and rainy...even got the dishes cleaned up...yeah me!
Let us know how you like the recipes...you'll be the official guinea pig! LOL!!! Love ya, Colette
