I found this recipe. I haven't tried it yet but it sounded good. Apparently, it was mentioned on the tv show LOST.
there were 2 recipes so i copied both
Banoffee Pie
Place 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk in large saucepan make sure it is covered with water, bring to boil and boil for 3 hours (yes, still in the can). Just make sure you add HOT water occasionally to make sure it is still completely covered. Lay can on its side.
After three hours, remove can from water and let cool for 15 min.
use prepared graham cracker crust sprinkled with a little bit of ginger (lazy cook).
Open can and pour toffee into crust. Top with sliced bananas and freshly whipped cream (NO COOL WHIP)sweetened with a little sugar or Splenda. Sprinkle with shaved chocolate (preferably that great Butlers Chocolate from Ireland - yum!)
This is a very rich dessert, but worth the effort!!
1. Place the condensed milk in a large, wide saucepan. Add the lemon juice and cook the mixture over a low heat for 10 minutes, stirring all the time, until it has thickened. 2. Add the toffee-flavour syrup and stir well. Continue to cook over a low heat for a further 10 minutes until the mixture has turned a soft toffee colour. Remove from the heat and carefully stir in the butter.
3. Arrange the sliced bananas over the pastry base and cover with the toffee mixture, drizzling some for effect. Chill until firm, then decorate with whipped cream and banana slices if you like.
