Gran's Beer Bread

The first time I had this was at a family gathering. My husbands Grandma made it and it was the best thing I'd ever tasted. We have this alot...it's especially good with homemade soup or toasted with butter for breakfast. I bake mine in a round 2 quart casserole for a nice round loaf. You may add cheese, pepperoni, herbs...whatever you like to make it suit your tastes.

INGREDIENTS:

1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer

3 cups self-rising flour

3 tablespoons white sugar

2 tablespoons butter, melted

------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS:

1. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and flour. Add beer and continue to mix, first using a wooden spoon, then your hands. Batter will be sticky. Pour into a 9 x 5 inch greased loaf pan.

2. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Pour melted butter over the top of the bread and return to oven for an additional 10 minutes. Cool before cutting.

Yeild: 1 loaf
